  • Sore Throat: Gargling with warm salt water and using throat lozenges can help soothe a sore throat.
  • Runny Nose: Saline nasal sprays or drops can ease congestion.
  • Hydration: Ensure adequate fluid intake, especially if there is a fever and a risk of dehydration.
  • Rest: Plenty of rest is important to help the body recover.
  • Vitamin A: In areas where vitamin A deficiency is common or in cases of severe measles, vitamin A supplements are recommended. This can reduce the severity of measles and decrease the risk of complications, particularly in children.

Complications Management:

If complications such as pneumonia or encephalitis occur, they require specific medical treatment:
Antibiotics may be needed for bacterial infections.
Supportive care may be required for brain inflammation.

Prevention:

Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles. The measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine is highly effective and safe, typically given in two doses during childhood.
